The Dalhousie Tigers welcomed six new members to the Sport Hall of Fame on Thursday night at the Dalhousie Art Centre.
This year's class of accomplished inductees includes聽Simon Watts, Scott Bagnell, Carla Perry, Jocelyn LeBlanc, Simon Farine and the 2023-04 men's hockey team.
The evening kicked off with a pre-event reception in the Sculpture Court of the Arts Centre, where guest, inductees and current student athletes could mingle. Many current student-athletes attended the event, to celebrate those who have come before and to be inspired by the accomplishments of the inductees.
Tim Maloney, Assistant Vice-President Athletics and Ancillary Services, opened the evening by welcoming guests, members of the hall of fame, and the new inductees. He highlighted how far the Tigers have come, built on the blocks the members have laid in the foundation of their programs.
鈥淵ou have done more than win games or set records,鈥 said Maloney. 鈥淵ou鈥檝e inspired generations. Your passion and persistence have made Dalhousie not just a place where student-athletes compete, but a place where good people become great and where champions are made.鈥

鈥淕oing back to what this city and community and this university has meant to my life, just being recognized, with the greats that have done it before, it truly means a lot to be inducted.鈥

鈥淚t is exciting to be a current student athlete and hearing the stories of their time here,鈥 said Beer. 鈥淗earing that last comment and being in my fourth year, it really does go by so fast, and then seeing the possibility of being back on this stage as being an inductee, its really inspiring鈥
