Tigers well represented in AUS men's soccer awards

(HALIFAX, N.S.) Atlantic University Sport is pleased to announce the 2025 men's soccer all-stars and major award winners as selected by the conference's 10 head coaches following regular season play.

Fourth-year Cape Breton midfielder Max Piepgrass has been named the AUS most valuable player, while Moncton forward Kautchy ANDJI-YAPI is the 2025 AUS rookie of the year.

This year's recipient of the AUS student-athlete community service award is Saint Mary鈥檚 midfielder Jake Wilcox of Halifax, N.S.

And in his fifth season at the helm of the Dalhousie Tigers program, Alan Jazic has been selected by his peers as the AUS coach of the year for the first time in his career.

In his fifth season at the helm of the Dalhousie Tigers program, head coach Alan Jazic has been selected by his peers as the AUS men鈥檚 soccer coach of the year for the first time in his career.

Coach Jazic led the Tigers to an 8-2-2 record this season, a second-place finish in the conference standings, and a first-round bye through to the semifinal round of this week鈥檚 championship.

Dalhousie finished the regular season with the best shooting percentage (.281) and a conference-best shots-on-goal percentage of 80.2%.

The Tigers also tied for the most shutouts in the conference, recording four on the season.

They averaged 2.25 goals per game while allowing an average of just 1.00 goal against per game.

Jazic now becomes the Atlantic conference nominee for the U SPORTS coach of the year award. Cape Breton Capers head coach Deano Morley is the most recent coach from the Atlantic conference to earn the national honour, winning in back-to-back seasons in 2017 and 2018.

2025 AUS MEN鈥橲 SOCCER ALL-STARS

The AUS first and second team all-stars were also announced today. Sinclair Astridge, Jack Ellis and Mohammed Tolba were named first team all-stars, with teammate Ben Hashimoto named a second team all-star. Eliia Abu Al-Shamlat was named to the all-rookie team.

Third-year goalkeeper Sinclair Astridge earned his second all-star nod, coming off a summer where he was on a U SPORTS contract with the Halifax Wanderers. Starting 10 of the Tigers games this season, he recorded three clean sheets this season. A Victoria, British Columbia native, Sinclair is studying engineering.

Fifth year commerce student Jack Ellis started every game for the Tigers this season. The defender led the back line to four clean sheets this season and he also got on the score sheet, scoring two goals and adding two assists.

Second year medical sciences student, Mohammed Tolba follows up his Rookie of the Year performance last year, with a first team all-star selection this year. Starting every game this season for the Tigers, Mo recorded four goals and five assists this year including two game-winning goals.

A commerce student from Charlottetown, PEI, Ben Hashimoto was named a second team all-star. The third-year striker scored six goals this year including two game-winning goals.

Hailing from Odessa, Ukraine, first year midfielder Eliia Abu Al-Shamlat was named to the all-rookie team. Eliia started 11 games for the Tigers this season, recording one assist.

The 2025 Bell AUS Men鈥檚 Soccer Championship will be hosted Oct. 23-26 by St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, N.S. The Tigers earned a bye to the semifinals and are just one win away from a spot at the U SPORTS Championship. They play their semifinal game at 4:00pm on Friday.聽
