The Educational Technology and Design (ETD) team has been busy supporting online delivery of Fall courses. Feedback from students during the Fall term demonstrated that course planning/mapping is an essential step in preparing to offer a course online.
Linda Jack (Linda.Jack@Dal.Ca) has been hired until December 7 to help facilitate planning of the upcoming winter semester courses. Linda will be contacting instructors individually over the next few weeks to assess course instructor needs, assist with planning and strategies and help with starting to prepare course(s) for the winter semester.
The ETD Course Builder Program is also available. Once your plan is in place and course outline established, our Builders can help create the course structure in Brightspace, set up content placeholders, add design elements, set up course gradebook, etc. Our objective, as it was in the Fall, is to help course instructors have at least the first few weeks of the course prepared before the start of classes in January.
Regular updates and any upcoming help sessions will be communicated via the E-Bulletin, so please keep an eye out for news. ETD will also be using our blog (edtechtruro.edublogs.org) and/or the Brightspace Instructor Resources site to house help resources and to communicate any training opportunities.
We are here to help course instructors get ready for winter. Please contact us through the ETD email (etd@dal.ca) for assistance or technical issues you are experiencing that relate to Brightspace, Panopto or other Dal teaching tools.
We look forward to continuing to support course instructors through the coming months!
Sincerely,
The ETD Team
